TLB, Libby, and I are heading out early today to visit my parents for Turkey Day. It's going to be Libby's first trip riding face-forward, which should allow her to contribute to our conversation.
TLB and I were talking about what it will be like when we take Libby to the movies for the first time. Libby's taken a shine to some TV shows (especially Sesame Street), so we know it won't be long before we're being begged to take her to a real movie. That prompted this exchange:
TLB: I can't wait to take her to the movies.
Me: Really?
TLB: Oh yeah, it'll be so much fun.
Me: You do know what kinds of movies we'll have to see? Can you say Baby Geniuses?
(A short time later, a loooonnnggg commercial for the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie played.)
TLB: Oh. My. God.
Me: See, that's what we're going to have to go see.
TLB: That looks terrible.
Me: I think I'd rather watch Space Chimps than Alvin and the Chipmunks. At least chimps have the potential to be funny.
Have a good weekend, and safe travels if you're getting a head start on the holiday.

LOL! I saw that promo for the Chipmunks movie last night and thought of you. :)
I believe it was after Beverly Hills Chihuahua that Grizzled put his foot down and said the only movies he would see anymore would be big boy movies.
Have a fun Thanksgiving! And congrats to Libby for joining the facing forward crowd!
I reached the end of my rope when I watched Barnyard. The girls were cows and the boys?
Also cows. With udders. I sat there steaming. I couldn't let it go. The whole day. I think Dr. Mrs. fish ended up tranquilizing me.
That said, Kung Fu Panda is hilarious.
Chicken Little was painful...
Kung Fu Panda was a nice surprise. I fully expected to be thinking about my to-do list for 90 minutes.
I had forgotten about Barnyard...
Fortunately, young zombie never went to much for the kiddie movies. When he was little, one of his favorites was Nightmare Before Christmas. Hilariously, at one part, he put it in for all the guest-kids, and a couple of parents felt it was 'too strong'. which he didn't understand.
We take him to see R movies all the time. We are probably bad parents, certainly by all the helicopter parenting enthusiasts, but figure that a little sex probably doesn't hurt him, as long as he can understand what's going on. To a certain extent, I mean.
Now, though, he's at the opposite point where he has no interest in movies that are deemed too young for him. Although we didn't have to drag him to see Up, at least. He has dragged the missus to a couple of stupid "Ow My Balls" style comedies though.
[hoists pants, pauses, smirks for a moment]
Ahem.
too
That is all...
there's a new alvin and the chipmunks movie?
they should make the ticket stubs out of blotter paper - the only way to make that turd even worth scooping up
Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Pure suffering.
I took my daughter to see the 1st Chipmunks movies. She was having a case of the Sunday sads and the movie made her much happier. So, it was worth it to sit through it...I guess.
Have a great and safe trip, happy Thanksgiving!!
Churlita, I gotta wonder if a big bowl of ice cream wouldn't have done the same thing, maybe better....
May I suggest... "Bad Ronald"... :)
dammit, Brando, I need you to help me defend Bad Religion over at Pinko's!!
Next thing you know, they will be defaming Rush!! AGAIN!!!!
Sorry, busy working from my parents' and visiting, so not much time for any blog fun.
hilarious. We took B to see Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs and it was awesome!! (both the movie, and taking her; she laughed and laughed - it was amazing!)
